Create Mobile App Installs Campaign with Dynamic Creative (DC) ~5 min

Now you can optimise your Dynamic Creative campaigns for Mobile App Installs in our tool.

DC allows you to create various combinations of images, text pieces, and ad titles and test their performance against each other for most personalised impressions

This is good news for a number of reasons:

  • Initially, DC was only available for Link Clicks objective, which was insufficient for the marketing goals of most users. Now it can be utilised for most campaign objectives and help resolve many more challenges than before.
  • This feature solves the problem of creating and optimising large quantities of creatives, as well as making A/B testing more reliable.
  • The self-learning algorithm takes all Facebook metrics into account to minimise your app’s CPI by displaying the most effective creative combination.

To create a campaign:

Learn the technical requirements of DC campaigns:
  • Ad Formats:
    • Three ad_formats are supported:
      - SINGLE IMAGE;
      - CAROUSEL IMAGE; and
      - SINGLE VIDEO.
Only one ad format is allowed in one asset feed. Ad format counts as one asset in an asset feed.
  • Number of Assets in Asset Feed:
    • Asset feed: Must be a maximum of 30 total assets, such as 10 images + 5 bodies + 5 titles + 5 descriptions + 1 ad_format + 1 link_url + 1 call_to_action_types = 28 assets
    • Total number of images: < 10
      • Recommended image specs: 1.9:1
      • If Instagram placement is included, consider using square images for better performance
      • Recommended image size: 1,200 x 628 pixels
    • Total number of videos: < 10
      • If Instagram placement is included, only square videos or landscape videos are allowed
    • Total number of bodies limited to 5
    • Total number of call to actions limited to 5
    • Total number of titles limited to 5
    • Total number of links limited to 1.
    • Total number of descriptions limited to 5. If you do not specify any description, we will scrape the link you provided to retrieve the description as we now do for link ads
    • Title/Description text max length 255.
    • Body text max length 1024.
    • For CAROUSEL_IMAGE format, at least 2 images are required in the Asset Feed, while titles are optional.
  • Asset Feed: Read only; you can re-use asset feed ID, but not edit it. To change or re-use an asset feed, create a new one.
  • url_tags (Optional): Only available for IMAGES, VIDEOS, BODIES, DESCRIPTIONS, and TITLES fields. Facebook appends url_tags to the link URL as parameters for each asset in an ad.

Example of a valid asset feed combination setup for SINGLE_IMAGE format:

  • 5 images
  • 3 bodies
  • 3 titles
  • 3 descriptions
  • 1 format: SINGLE_IMAGE

Example of a valid asset feed combination setup for SINGLE_VIDEO format:

  • 5 videos
  • 3 bodies
  • 3 titles
  • 3 descriptions
  • 1 format: SINGLE_VIDEO

Step 5. The interface you see depends on the chosen advertising objective.

1. Choosing a Facebook Page or Instagram profile.
You need to choose a page from the list of available Facebook pages, or if necessary an Instagram account. If you don’t have a Facebook page, you can create one. If you don’t have a connected Instagram account, read how to attach one to your account.

2. Preparing your ads materials.
You should prepare all the materials for your advertising campaign in advance. Please note the technical demands for images, texts, and links.

3. Setting up other fields.
The mandatory parameter for any Mobile App Installs campaign is Website URL.

4. Ad “Sandbox”

The “sandbox” for creating your ads is where you can build your ads by using the simple drag and drop interface to add your chosen objects. The process of ad creations contains several simple steps:

  • Upload your pictures or video in the left column by using “Drop Files Here” field or by clicking the “Select Files” button.
  • If you have already some pictures or video uploaded, you can choose them from the Library.
  • You can copy headlines or texts from Excel, Google Docs, or any text file and paste them into the “Headline” and “Texts” fields. Separate phrases will be automatically determined as separate objects and automatically added in the lower “sandbox” respectively.
Step 6. Completion

The final step of creating your ads is the settings check (especially the Budget). If all is correct, then:

1. There will not be any errors like in the image below:

If such errors appear, click the red button and get the hint telling you how to rectify the issue.

2. If everything is right, every step will be marked with a green arrow.

3. The green “Create N New Ad(s)” button will appear, where N is the number of Ads that will be created for each audience.
